This award-winning tragi-comedy is set in August 2007 in a large country home outside Pawhuska, Oklahoma, sixty miles northwest of Tulsa. When the Weston family unexpectedly reunites after the patriarch disappears, their home explodes with repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Both fiercely funny and bitingly sad, this play will leave you laughing, crying, and contemplating long after the house lights come back on.
August: Osage County was awarded the 2008 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama when it was first performed on Broadway. It was also nominated for a total of seven Tony Awards, while winning five.
The play includes very strong language and mature themes. It may not suitable for all audiences.
